As Gradezone, we support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and we work for a more livable world based on these targets in our commercial activities. In particular, our work has focused on Article 8 of the Sustainable Development Goals. We believe that “Decent Work and Economic Growth” will increase the welfare of individuals. As Gradezone, we monitor the employment processes of each brand we work for and whether they have equal and decent working conditions for all women and men.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

The 17 SDGs are integrated—that is, they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.

Through the pledge to Leave No One Behind, countries have committed to fast-track progress for those furthest behind first. That is why the SDGs are designed to bring the world to several life-changing ‘zeros’, including zero poverty, hunger, AIDS and discrimination against women and girls.

Everyone is needed to reach these ambitious targets. The creativity, knowhow, technology and financial resources from all of society is necessary to achieve the SDGs in every context.

As the lead UN development agency, UNDP is well-placed to help implement the Goals through their work in some 170 countries and territories.

They support countries in achieving the SDGs through integrated solutions. Today’s complex challenges—from stemming the spread of disease to preventing a conflict—can not be tackled neatly in isolation. For UNDP, this means focusing on systems, root causes and connections between challenges—not just thematic sectors—to build solutions that respond to people’s daily realities.

Their track record working across the Goals provides theirs with a valuable experience and proven policy expertise to ensure they all reach the targets set out in the SDGs by 2030. But they cannot do this alone.

Achieving the SDGs requires the partnership of governments, private sector, civil society and citizens alike to make sure they leave a better planet for future generations.

As Gradezone managers, we individually support the Junior Chamber International (JCI) organization. As a member of the Istanbul branch in Turkey, we are aware of active citizenship and produce projects about our environmental problems. Thanks to these efforts, we have won awards both as a project and as an individual. The awards given to us by JCI Turkey between the years 2017-2019 are as follows.

2017 “Most Outstanding Fundraising Project” A-Z Franchising Project

2018 “Best Local Economic Development Program” A-Z Franchising Project

2019 “Best Local Economic Development Program” A-Z Franchising Project

2019 “Most Outstanding Local President/Director” Emir Beyazörtü (Gradezone Founding Partner)

Gradezone is also an organization established under the influence of JCI’s core values. JCI says “That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise.” Based on this value, we left our careers and founded Gradezone, our free enterprise.
